Lagoon and CI 2007/06/03 23:37

Hello,
I went to Lagoon last friday with my daughters for the second time since getting my CI.
Usually when I go to an amusement park I wear the body worn controller instead of BTE plus a hat to keep it on. It has served well except when I went on the new Wicked ride.
Wicked is a brand new ride at Lagoon and it's faster than anything I have ever been on.
I took off my hat but I left my CI on (body worn) - big mistake. It was fine going up the first 90 degrees but once we headed down it, the CI flew off my head. Luckily it was attched to the body worn controller and I was able to reach back and grab it so I could hold on to it through the rest of the ride.
That was more scary than the ride itself!!
I just love hearing everyone scream on the rides, but after Wicked, I have resolved to wear the BTE and place it in the case in my pocket when going on such rides.

I had an experiance like this before. I live in Idaho. The themepark that I went to was Silverwood. I have always wanted to hear others on the ride. I decided that I would wear my strongest implant. Well that was a bad idea, it fell off and I wasn't able to catch it. I thought possibly it would attach to the medal cage but it didn't. I couldn't find it for about half an hour, finally found it in the grass.
Those things are easy to lose. Glad I found it

Hello!
Nice to see someone post on this board. I built this site for our group a couple of years ago but nobody wanted to put any time into it.
Anyway, I am glad you found your CI. I take mine off and put it in my pocket before getting on rides now. I don't to take any chances now.
Heres another thing to try. Have you ever wondered what things sound like under water??
You can. Get a ziplock back - the freezer kind because you don't want to risk any water getting in. Put your CI in the bag, zip it and then jump in the water and put the magnet part on your head.
Enjoy!

Hi,
My boyfriend sent this site to me. He is trying to help me find an audiologist in Utah that I can see. I want to move but not every audiologist does CI. Do you know of any?
That is great! Maybe I will try the under water thing. I have this splash proof thing but it isn't completly water proof.
Thanks, Rachelle

Hello,
Yes not many audiologists do CI. The one I see is at the University of Utah here in Salt Lake City.
I don't have the contact info with me. I'll post it to you in private message tomorrow.
